QTEP-MBEQNFO2 - Optical and electronic design and characterization of integrated quantum photonic devices

Main Tasks and responsibilities: Optical and electrical design and analysis of nanophotonic and nano-electronic devices using single photon micro-spectroscopy techniques at cryogenic temperatures and commercial and proprietary simulation software.The applicant will be responsible for the simulation and characterization of novel single photon source devices under the direct supervision of two staff scientists.


  • Education: A Master degree (mandatory) or a PhD degree (desirable) in material science, physics, nanotechnology with specialization in optical spectroscopy, photonics, electronics and/or quantum technologies.
  • Minimum knowledge and professional experience: Ideally, the successful applicant has four years-work-experience in an R&D environment performing optical and/or electronic characterization and simulation of nanomaterials/nanodevices. Strong background in solid state/semiconductor physics is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of nano-photonics/nanoelectronics simulation software and/or acquaintance with cryogenic optical microscopy and spectroscopy techniques will be positively considered.

Job Conditions:

  • 2 years duration starting on 1 July 2021 (extendable according to funding and performance)
  • 37.5 working hours/week
  • Annual Gross Salary: 29 200 €
