Anodization and electrodeposition are extensively used in industrial applications. In this talk, I will present the research that I developed at EMPA-ETH domain (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science) working on different topics, mostly devoted to industrial applications, using anodization, electrodeposition and characterization of optical properties of nanostructures. The presentation will be divided in three sections. The first part of the talk will be focused on the optical properties of anodic aluminium oxide films, and the electrodeposition of ZnO nanowires to obtain white alumina (Swiss National project in collaboration with a company). In this project, the fabrication and optical characterization of different alumina nanostructures were performed in order to find the best candidate to reach a white alumina after the deposition of a certain material (ZnO or TiO2) inside the pores[1,2]. The second part of the talk will be centred on the investigation of the optical properties of metal-anodic aluminium oxide-aluminium nanostructures for the watch industry[3]. The third part of the talk will be focused on the electrodeposition of NiCu micro-components using UV-photolithography under two projects with a watch maker company[4]. In addition, during the talk I will explain the different scientific results extracted from all those industrial projects.
